The year was 1996. Duke Nukem 3D was released as shareware and DVD’s were just launched in Japan – and I was a 13 year old basketball card collecting enthusiast.
I was allocated $20 a week pocket money. I was content bringing Vegemite sandwiches to school for lunch EVERY day just so I could catch the bus down to the shops on the weekend and buy 3 packets of basketball cards. I still remember the smell of the cards when opening that foil pack and the overwhelming excitement that I felt thinking I might get a 1:36 insert (or rarer!).

Dominion has dominated me at late. I try to keep up with its expansions but of late its defeating me. Even my wife complains as she knows she will have to cover each card with a plastic card sleeve.
My largest collection would be for Heroscape. I bought my first master set on a whim and have since had a plasticrack addiction. From Ebay to overseas stores (with ridiculous postage costs) there isn’t much I haven’t done to get my ‘scape fix.
My largest collection is my collection of cast signed posters of Broadway shows. I’ve stood outside the stage door for Lion King (Toronto, full cast), Wicked (NY, partial), Urinetown(NY, full cast): Where the actors commented on my laughter, Les Mis (LA),
Have a huge Heroscape collection, originally imported from private and ebay USA sales. Took me quite a while to get all the rare items.
Our largest collection is of Scleich animals – we would have around 200. I started the collection for the kids and we began with farm animals, now we have fairies and jungle animals, pets, dinosaurs etc. We search online, use ebay, trawl through toy shops
Have entered but the form did not let me delete anything and start again to get the words in. Now of course it is letting me – must be a problem at my end.
My largest collection is my collection of magic the gathering cards. I started out with a small deck given to my by a friend, then i have purchased retired players collections through ebay. The biggest thing i have done was spend $800 to buy cards online,

8000 points of Imperial Guard for Warhammer 40k – stayed up late to not get sniped on Ebay, bought from local newspaper, bought from forums, club members, driven miles to trade, deceived wife (“I bought this ages ago”), got kids into Warhammer 40k.
I have recently started collecting the Caracssonne expansion packs, and I was so excited to see how many you had that I almost got them all in one go. Instead getting them bit by bit…….Almost there! Thanks Games Paradise
My largest collection would have to be my on street council cleanup “treasures”. Everytime there’s a council clean up, I would go with my wife to look for “new” stuff! We’ve even taken a torch each at night to go look for them!
Ha…I have just about 3000 games now traversing countries and continents alway on the lookout for that out of print or odd game to add to the collection. I have shipped, shopped, bartered and beg as you know.

My largest collection would be the hair caught in my shower drain. I have been collecting it for many years, and while most of it is local, I’m sure there are a few foreign samples in there too!!
i collect comic books and i have gone to a little bit of trouble to get them i go to lots of garage sales and spend a lot of money on them i have over 150 comics
My Atari 2600 games. They are all in working order. Most are since I bought them, others through the internet and friends of friends of friends. Facebook has also been very useful. Can be an expensive exercise

I collect Maneki Neko – Japanese Lucky Cats – to help brighten up my desk at work. I’ve been through many trials and tribulations to get my hands on the little porcelain felines. I often forgo any other presents when my friends or family visiting Asia ask “What would you like me to bring you back?”. On my recent visit to Japan I annoyed my little brother hugely, stopping at any and every stall which sold them (there were a lot!), and eventually had to resort to wrapping them in dirty socks to keep them safe for the journey home. Gross!
Books, books, books !! I turn up to the Lifeline Book Fair each time with several large wheelable suitcases. I learned my lesson the hard way by naively turning up with a daypack the first time and struggled with armloads of heavy books. Each year I take a larger suitcase and one time I had to sms a friend to bring his as well as I was on a spree. I started keeping track of them with spreadsheets, then created an online database and now have a cataloguing system. Next purchase is a barcode scanner… and a kindle.
We’ve been playing MTG every Tuesday night for 7+ years now. And considering that more often than not we play drafts or sealed, I rekon I now have 10,000+ MTG cards!
